Did you know?
On average we lose about 100 strands per DAY! With all that hair being lost it’s hard to grow it out to that length that you’ve been trying for months to achieve. Even though those strands grow back overtime, it can be a challenge to get the fullness and length you desire! Jungle Red Salon has a solution to that frustrating wait and your fine hair issues! The answer to your problems is: HAIR EXTENSIONS.
What could hair extensions do for you?
Not only can extensions lengthen your hair, but they also give you volume and fullness. We all weren’t born with thick, long, healthy hair. We often look at celebrities and ask; how do they do it? The answer is hair extensions. Celebrities who rocked some extensions include Reese Witherspoon, Kim Kardashian, Carrie Underwood, and Vanessa Hudgens among many, many others.
Extensions are wonderful because they are available to everyone! The popularity of extensions has grown, and it’s not just celebrities who are taking advantage of this FUN and glamorous service.
What does Jungle Red have to offer?
Here at Jungle Red Salon we take pride in our hair extensions, because they are High Quality 100% human hair and Use an All-Natural Application Process! Human hair can be colored, and you can use a curling iron or flat iron to style the hair as you would your own. Human hair also looks natural, is stronger, and generally lasts longer. We want to offer our customers only the best, and that means staying away from synthetic extensions or low-quality hair that can look and feel unnatural. In addition, we NEVER use bonding agents or chemicals that can damage or break your own hair.
What is the process like?
The first step is having a consultation with one of our extension specialists so that we can assess your needs and desires, and match your hair color and texture. Then we get you scheduled for the application appointment, as we work behind the scenes to obtain your new luxurious locks! The application appointment generally takes between 2 and 3 hours, and the extensions are applied by a sew-in method. “Sew-in” -- Sounds weird, right? Sewing in is an all-natural, safe way to achieve your new look, and is sometimes referred to as a “weave.” Your stylist will strategically braid sections of your own hair and then “sew” the extension hair around the braid, using thread to fasten the extension hair. Once the extensions are all sewn in, the hair will be trimmed and texturized to blend with your own hair. Voila! You have a thicker, longer head of hair.
How do I get them?
To get that long beautiful look this spring, come on in and set up an appointment for a consultation with one of our stylists to get you started! We can answer any questions and teach you exactly what you need to do to maintain your new ‘do. Let us give you that Hollywood look for Spring.
How much do they cost?
While most people think that only the rich and famous can afford extensions, we offer a more affordable option for our customers. Extensions at Jungle Red have a wide price range -- between $300 and $600. The price varies depending on which stylist you elect to see, as well as the length you desire, and whether or not you choose to go with the upgraded premium-quality hair.
During the month of MARCH we are offering $50 off of a hair extension service! This is a great deal, and it’s only happening during the month of March so come in quick while it lasts. You won’t regret taking advantage of this deal!
Say goodbye to waiting for your hair to reach your shoulders, and hello to long, voluminous hair with a simple call to Jungle Red Salon. Not only will you be looking wonderful with your new style, but you will be getting our BEST DEAL of the season as well!

Kate Engelmann: Desert Candy
Kate is a Minneapolis-based photographer. As a current Photography major at the Art Institutes International of Minnesota, she continues to
explore techniques and processes in creating fine art imagery and client-based work.
Featured Work: The images in the Desert Candy series were taken just after sunrise in the Tonto National Forest, Arizona. Tonto is primarily a Saguaro cactus forest that spans nearly 3 million acres of ruggedly beautiful country. For the past twelve years Kate has traveled at least once a year to this area. She has had the opportunity to observe how the space has transformed over the years because of human traffic. She wanted to create a body of work that could delicately bridge the rugged beauty of the natural landscape and the mark of man.
Kate titled the series Desert Candy as the colors are soft like cotton candy. Through her work she sought to portray how the interaction between man and desert creates an unusually beautiful landscape. The artist hopes viewers can get a sense of these landscapes as a desirable dream-like environment to get lost in.

Jenny Thompson: Rainy Window Series and Zoo Animals
Jenny is a Minneapolis-based artist, originally from Alexandria, MN. She is a graduate of the University of Minnesota, with a B.A. in Fine Arts and a minor in Design. The media she works mostly in are acrylic and photography, however her work also expands into other artistic arenas including shibori and batik textile design, crafting, and home décor design.
Featured Work: The Rainy Window series was inspired by the way rain appears on glass. The works represent the scene that is created if you closely examine the water droplets on a window pane —what is beyond the pane ceases to matter; it becomes simply an ambiguous colorful backdrop. Jenny achieved this rainy view by creating an obscure colored background contrasted by a foreground of detailed water droplets.
Zoo Animals was inspired by the work of artist John Baldessari. Jenny photographed this series at the Como Zoo in St. Paul, MN. She then added acrylic paint to create dimension to the black and white photographs and to add an element of playfulness.

Kelly Reid was born in Duluth, Minnesota and has had the opportunity to travel around the country while growing up, leading to a diverse open mind. She is currently residing in Minneapolis and employed at Jungle Red Salon Spa Gallery as a stylist with over four years of experience. Kelly
has grown into art, while she watched both mother and grandmother create artistic expression in front of her. She has always been creating something, whether it’s using her Associates Degree in Photography, Cosmetology or freelance painting. Always working with different media, she loves working with textures: Oil, Acrylic, inks, recycled material, even forms of nature to create different line work in her paintings. Interactions with her paintings are important; get lost by the touch or different layers in her work.
To learn more about Kelly's work, ask her over a haircut! In addition to being a talented artist, she is one of our amazing stylists!
