Your closet isn't the only thing in need of some serious spring-cleaning; when it comes to hair color for spring 2013, it’s out with the old and in with the new! The candy colored pastel tresses of 2012 have been replaced by bolder, brighter color streaks. After making a bold appearance on many runways this spring, bright oranges, reds and blues are primed to takeover! What we love about this new color palette is its versatility; the pastel trend though pretty, really only worked on blondes, whereas the primary colors of this spring can look great on just about anyone. It’s just the right balance of pretty and punky.
Also hot for spring is the blended ombre. The key to moving the ever-popular ombre from winter to spring is blending to keep the contrast soft and gradual. Sharp, contrasting highlights are too harsh for spring. The blended ombre is a great, low maintenance way to make a statement with your hair color this spring.
Come into Jungle Red and let us melt away the icy hues still hanging onto your locks! Our stylists recently attended their quarterly education by Goldwell Educators and are eager to share with you new techniques and color trends just launched for spring.

If you’re anything like us, you are more than ready for spring to arrive…but is your skin ready? Transitioning from season to season can take a toll on your skin and moving from winter to spring can be especially tough. Winter can leave your skin dull and dehydrated, but don’t fret; we have an easy three-step solution for this tricky problem.
First, we cannot stress enough the importance of a good facial treatment that is right for your skin type. Especially during seasonal change, the skin can use help sloughing off the old to prepare for the new. From a rejuvenating antioxidant facial to a nourishing facial for dehydrated skin, the right treatment can do a number of things, including:
-
Deeply cleanse skin and pores
-
Exfoliate skin to remove build up and dead skin cells
-
Promote skin cell renewal
-
Improve skin texture
-
Address and treat any immediate concerns
-
And of course, relax and de-stress the recipient
Second, avoid hot showers and baths. Now don’t get us wrong, we aren’t telling you to stop bathing, just cut out the super hot showers and baths we’re accustomed to taking during the winter months. Exposing your skin to hot water day in and day out can sap it of moisture. Instead, take warm showers and cleanse your face with tepid water.
Lastly, moisturize and hydrate. To lock in moisture after your shower, immediately apply a light, antioxidant-rich moisturizer. Don’t forget to moisturize before bed as well, as this is prime time for skin cells to regenerate and recharge. Also, you’ve heard it a million times before, but it bears repeating: drink more water! Staying hydrated is good for your whole body. The Institute of Medicine suggests women drink 2.2 liters (about 9 cups) of water per day and men should consume about 3 liters.
To help get your skin in shape for spring, we’d love to invite you into Jungle Red to take $25 off one of our customized facial treatments during the month of March. Give us a call to learn more! 612-870-0653

Stop in on Wednesday, March 6th from 6pm to 8pm during Rhythm & Red to meet the artist, view his artwork, listen to live local music, and enjoy complimentary wine.
Trevor Phillips:
Trevor Phillips is a 28 year-old artist who grew up in Arden Hills, MN. He has been drawing since before he can remember and started painting when he was 17. By day he works at a local restaurant as a cook, but painting is his true passion. His work attacks many different styles and genres: From realism to surrealism, acrylic to spray-paint, stencils to hand-painted pieces. In the future, he hopes to continually expand the depth of his work through constant evolution in his methods. However, he ultimately hopes to inspire sheer enjoyment in the viewer's experience. Or horror. Or disgust. Or shock. Or awe. Or... Come see what Trevor Phillips inspires in you.
Scott Berman from The Reckless:
Joining us for our Rhythm & Red gallery reception will be musician Scott Berman. The Mankato-based band The Reckless is founded by David Sandersfeld, Scott Berman, Maximillian Ridge, and Jason Worrell. They combine experimental rock, indie, and alternative with an emphasis on clever songwriting, crushing vocals, catchy choruses and undeniable rhythm.
Come enjoy the acoustic sounds of The Reckless’ Scott Berman Wednesday, March 6th from 6pm to 8pm!
Please join us Wednesday, February 6th from 6 to 8 pm for our monthly Rhythm & Red event. We invite you and your friends to move to the rhythm of our LIVE local music from "The Twin Cities Highest Rated Solo Performer" Chris Herriges, while provoking your pallet with complimentary wine and feasting your eyes upon the amazing artwork of local artist Jake Schroeder. Whether this is your first experience with Jungle Red Salon Spa Gallery or your regular go-to, it's time to relax, kickback, and REDesign your Wednesday happy hour RHYTHM. Here's a look at this month's artist and musician, who will be performing.
Meet the Artist:
Jake is a 26 year old Minnesota native raised in the south suburb of Richfield. Always drawn toward art and creating, he dabbled with small projects until immersing himself into acrylic painting in 2007. Since then he has spent the years of 2009 to 2010 in New Jersey and Buffalo, New York working in the field of guitar repair and exploring new environments. Returning in July of 2010, he worked with Karl Unnasch of Pilot Mound, Minnesota on stained glass, iron casting, and sculpture. After moving back to the twin cities he began to focus on becoming more detailed with his paintings and branched out into painting with oils as well.

Meet the Musician:
Chris began playing various musical instruments at age nine, at the gentle urging of artistic parents. His first experience as guitarist was with a band in Junior High School - Gateway - kings of the roller rinks in his hometown of Eau Claire, WI. Chris shelved musical pursuits during his college years for conventional career aspirations (BBA - University of WI, Eau Claire, 1986) but became determined for a career as national recording artist before graduation. First self-produced recordings were on 45 rpm vinyl: "Please You", "Sweet, True Companion" and the most successful, "Come What May". Lots of Midwest club dates followed, primarily in the Twin Cities, and most notably, a series of national openers at The Fine Line Music Cafe for Sean Phillips, Kenny Rankin, and others.
Also, visit our musician's website @ http://chrisherriges.net/ for more info.
Don't forget to join us this Wednesday, February 6th at Jungle Red Salon Spa & Gallery! See you there!

We invite you to feast your eyes upon our newest art exhibit featuring the work of NicCole
from Dread Naught Photography.
The opening reception will take place at Jungle Red on Wednesday, December 5th from 6-8 pm.
Please join us for evening filled with amazing artwork, great company, complimentary wine, and live music by local musician K. Raydio.
If you are unable to make the opening reception, be sure to wander through the gallery after your next service. The show will be up the whole month of December.
Meet The Artist: NicCole
Dread Naught was established in 2009, and created Dread Naught Studios in 2012, in NorthEast Minneapolis. It works primarily with burlesque troupes and performers, publicly, but does a lot of private work that remains private. It has shot charity photo booths for Reclaim, PRIDE, Vote No and is clearly GLBT friendly. Dread Naught is also on the Art-A-Whirl tour for NorthEast Minneapolis.
NicCole, the owner and sole photographer, was a semi-finalist for RAW’s Photographer of the Year. Her work has been published in PinCurl Magazine, Pin-up America Magazine and Rabid Girls Magazine, and has been the face of February for Corsets-UK, for Unique Vintage, The Cat’s Meow Magazine, PinupPictures.co.uk, Pinup-Doll.com and more online pages and one can keep track of. She has shot fetish models such as Theresa Manchester and Jean Bardot, and burlesque performers like Lula Hoop-Garou (Dallas), Lushes LaMoan (Detroit), Vivian MirAnn (New Mexico), and locals ranging from Drag Kings and Queens to Foxy Tann and Ophelia Flame.
Personally, while I love shooting live, it’s capturing the character that I truly love. Getting that signature wink is important, but when you can catch that moment when the performer is lost in what they’re doing, that’s the real shot. When I’m shooting regular people for private sessions, it’s all about getting them to show me who they really are, or who they want to be; the fantasy. It’s creating with someone to show them something they never thought they could achieve.
I absolutely love showing a woman how beautiful she actually is.
For more information or inquiries, please contact NicCole at nykki.weinberg@gmail.com or visit www.dreadnaughtphotography.com.
